St Arnaud Campervan Hire Holiday
St Arnaud is situated on the shores of Lake Rotoiti at the head of the Nelson Lakes National Park, where thanks to the Department of Conservation’s intensive management of pests in the Rotoiti Nature Recovery Project, the beech forests ring with an almost deafening chorus of birdsong.
Check out the visitor centre’s displays on the region, then hike through beech forests dripping with honeydew and well-fed bellbirds. Hike around the lake to Whisky Falls or hop aboard a water taxi for a tour to see the falls and a variety of other attractions. Get up close with nature on the Lake Rotoiti Circuit, the Mount Robert loop track, and the St Arnaud Range track.
During the winter the Rainbow Ski Field provides a range of skiing and boarding trails for the novice through to the more advanced. Access to the top of the range is provided by chairlifts, while skiers at Mt Robert Ski Field right by the lake must take a stiff two-hour hike up the aptly named Pinchgut track to the slopes, or catch a ride in a helicopter.
