The city is an oasis on the prairies. It's situated on a broad, flat, treeless and largely waterless plain, but there is an abundance of parks and greenspaces: all of its trees — some 300,000 shrubs and other plants were hand-planted - Regina's considerable beauty is entirely man-made! The largest park is the Wascana Centre. At 2300 acres, it is home to some of Regina's most popular attractions, including the Legislative Building, Conexus Arts Centre, MacKenzie Art Gallery, Royal Saskatchewan Museum, and Saskatchewan Science Centre.
Regina hosts many major conventions, trade shows, cultural activities and sporting events. IPSCO Place is the site of such events as Buffalo Days and the Canadian Western Agribition.
